With summer just around the corner, Derby Street Shops is getting ready to welcome the season with the return of its beloved Summer Thursdays—a weekly series of family-friendly events and outdoor entertainment beginning June 5. Summer Thursdays will once again offer a lively mix of activities for all ages to enjoy throughout the season.
Also returning for the third year is Music Together®, presented in partnership with South Shore Conservatory. These interactive early childhood music classes will be offered in two 6-week sessions, beginning May 19 and July 7, providing a joyful, hands-on experience for young children and their caregivers.
SUMMER THURSDAYS
Summer Thursdays will feature an extensive line-up of kids’ events and activities such as live music, character meet and greets, sensory-friendly yoga paired with storytime, playtime and caregiver meetups, art and more. Derby Street has partnered with several local businesses and community organizations for the 2025 edition of Summer Thursdays including Arc of the South Shore, Mama Steph, South Shore Conservatory, The Boston Artistry, Boston Moms, and Roger Williams Park Zoo. All Summer Thursdays events will take place outside on The Green, located between REI and Kohl’s.
Tickets for Summer Thursdays vary in pricing, starting at $5,and are available for purchase via the Derby Street Insider App. Tickets are required for children only – caregivers do not need a ticket. 100% of ticket sales will be donated to The Arc of the South Shore.

Meet dinosaur characters and get a chance to snap fun pictures. Ben & Jerry’s will be offering scoops during the event.

Enjoy a baby and toddler-friendly live musical performance by everyone’s favorite South Shore singer-songwriter, Mama Steph.
Wicked Good Playdate with Boston Moms & Singalong with Jasmine from South Shore Conservatory: June 26 | 10:00am – 11:00am
This fun, kid-friendly music experience invites little ones to dance and play while enjoying a live performance by Jasmine Vergara-Ullman and South Shore Conservatory. This event is in partnership with Boston Moms, the go-to resource for Modern Motherhood in Greater Boston and beyond.

Drop & Shop: A Street Style Summer Art Pop-Up with Boston Artistry: July 17 | 3:00pm – 5:00pm
New to Summer Thursdays, Art Drop & Shop is a vibrant 2-hour outdoor art and design experience led by The Boston Artistry, the South Shore’s go-to designer-led art and fashion studio. Kids ages 5–14 will dive into the world of street-style creativity, choosing from trendy wearables like bucket hats, caps, tees, shopping totes, and drawstring summer bags and personalizing them using fabric paints, stencils, patches, and live airbrushing. This drop-off event gives kids the chance to collaborate with real artists and designers to create fashion-forward pieces — all while parents shop, dine, or stroll at Derby Street. It’s colorful, cool, and completely custom.

Enjoy an inclusive, interactive drumming experience for the whole family. This engaging session encourages teamwork and community building, fostering confidence and well-being through a creative, hands-on process. No previous experience necessary. All drums and percussion provided.
