HMC's mission is to provide boating and access to the beautiful Hingham Harbor for all members of the community - no experience necessary!
At the heart of our program is our Beginner Sailing class (starting at age 7) where HMC has successfully given thousands of children their first sailing experience. Many of these students have developed a love for the sport and gone on over the years to race sailboats in HMC, High School, College and beyond. Our Junior Sailing program offers a full curriculum of courses for students to develop their sailing skills from novice to racer from age 7 though high school. Little Mariners is an introductory marine sciences class for our little explorers ages: 5-7 years old. During this program our Little Mariners will be introduced to the basic mollusks, birds, crustaceans, fish and flora of Hingham Harbor. Visiting the beach, creating marine related arts and crafts and culminating with an exploration voyage to one of the Hingham Harbor islands at the end of each week.
Starting at age 12, HMC offers Youth Rowing courses where novice rowers can learn the fundamentals of helm control, strokes, and balance of a single rowing shell. This course is the first step to pursuing any rowing at a higher level including High School and College racing.
For the more recreational enthusiast, HMC offers Paddle Boarding for ages 10+ where participants master the essential techniques and skills to navigate a paddle board around Hingham Harbor taking in the beauty of the environment from sea level.
